Mission to Moldova
MOLDOVA Is one of the poorest Republics from
the former Soviet Union and is landlocked with Romania to the west and the Ukraine to the north, south and east. Chisinau is the capital city of Moldova.
Because of its poor economy children are often abandoned by their parents to orphanages so the parents can go find work in other countries. Many of these children spend their entire lives in the orphanages until they turn 16, where upon they are released to try and survive on their own.
Upon their release from the orphanages they are without work themselves and are often kidnapped or tricked into prostitution by the Russian Mafia.

Willow Meadows has supported Moldova with mission trips and other donations since 2005. We are currently forming the Moldova Mission Trip for 2010.
Moldova Mission Trip Update
Fourteen people will leave June 18 for Willow Meadows’ fourth mission trip to Moldova in Eastern Europe. Toni Kennedy, Craig and Elaine Butler, Bob and Joy Evans, Lisa, Claire, and Rachel Robinson, Soya Chun, Jennifer Miller, Melissa Dix, Alice Burch, Mark McCoy, and Rachel Mahaffey will spend a week leading a camp for 100+ children from one of the state run orphanages. Part of the group will also work with older teen girls in a transitional living home, Grace House.
Since the first trip in 2005, WMBC has attempted to make an impact on the thousands of children living in facilities throughout the country. Through music, worship assembly, crafts, recreation, Bible studies, and talking one-on-one, the team will share the love of Christ with the children and adult workers. The theme chosen for this year’s camp is The Family of God. Though the children may not have a family in the traditional sense, the goal is for them to know they are part of God’s family.
Though only 14 will actually make the trip, there are several things the WMBC family can do to support the 2010 endeavor.
• Pray for travel safety and health of team members
• Pray for receptive hearts for the children
• Provide a monetary gift to buy items for the
children
Because of new customs regulations and because of the rising cost of checked luggage, the team is limited in what they can take and will not be asking WMBC members to provide items as they have in the past. Upon arrival in Moldova they will purchase the following for each child: bar of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of underwear.
During the April 11 and April 18 worship services, envelopes will be available if you would like to participate in buying a bag of supplies for a child, craft items, or recreation equipment.
